I ordered one of these becasue I was tired of pulling weeds from between the cracks on a patio I build that is a slate floor with sand filler surrounded by castle wall bricks with rose bushes behind. We have a lot of weeds that like to pop up and since our dogs play out there and eat grass poison was not an option. I bought this, got it a day later (thanks amazon!) and hooked it up to my grills propane tank. Instantly I lit it (why wait?!?!?) and man was this thing impressive! Its weeding with a flame thrower/torch. You literally only have to pass it over the weeds for a few seconds and they start to wilt. A day or two later they are dead. Now at this point you can pull them eaisly or relight your torch and burn em again! :) It by no means is "magic" but it does do the job as long as you arent expecting the thing to vaporize weeds. It kills the cells of the plant and basically it starves it to death. I do recommend keeping the garden hose handy just because its a safety issue.

This thing works great, just as advertised. Our little farm is organic, so I never use chemicals for weed control. I have a couple of gas-powered string trimmers which I still have to use a few places, but since I got the Weed Dragon I now use it almost exclusively.

A couple of reasons I prefer this over the gas-powered string trimmers: 1) No messy mixing of gas and oil 2) It starts every time with just a flick of the flint striker gadget--no choking, priming, pulling, pulling, pulling... 3) Much quieter--I can listen to my iPod while using it.

Best feature of all: Ive got several small ponds in the front and back of the house. With a string trimmer, the cut grass goes flying everywhere, mostly into the ponds, making a big mess to clean up. With the Weed Dragon, the weeds just wither in place with no extra cleanup required.

Tip: What I do around the water features is cook the weeds one day and then let them dry out for 2 or 3 days. At that point, theyre dry and brown and a little unsightly, so I go back over them with the Weed Dragon and toast them again. Since theyre brown and dry, they immediately flare up and turn to ash and disappear. The surrounding grass and weeds never catch fire, since they werent treated the first time. This double treatment leaves me with a clean, weed-free area and no residue. Note that you should still keep a fire extinguisher and hose nearby to make sure things dont get out of control.

I figured this would be a fine way to cook pasta without using the stove. It sounded so nice to be able to set the microwave, walk away, and come back to cooked pasta.

While the pasta was cooked, it had a distinct plastic taste to it. Even though I followed the directions and washed it, used it in the microwave for 10 minutes with water in it, and then put it in the dishwasher, the smell and the taste did not go away.

Not only that, I became very ill after eating pasta from it. There honestly was nothing else that could have caused such terrible stomach problems except for the pasta.

This is just one of thousands of products that are made in China that are undoubtedly coated with toxins and shipped to us without our knowledge. I think Ill stick to watching water boil on the stove from now on.

I put it in the recycling bin, and hopefully, itll be more useful there.

Save yourself the money and the hassle, and just cook pasta like you normally do. Believe me, youre not missing anything except terrible pasta, terrible stomach cramps, and terrible digestive issues.

I was SO excited about the concept of this pasta cooking product! However, not only is it a tiny plastic container, it is a product that scared me away from using it! The odor of plastic, even after trying to "season" it away, was overwhelming! The thought of plastic toxins going into food was frightening!

Ive always been a music fanatic. For some reason I always seem to have music on no matter what. In the car, in the house, mp2 player, theyre always up and running. Ive collected music on vinyl, tape, disc and now online. And Ive never limited myself to one form or another. Country, rock, r & b, jazz, soul, classic. I love them all.

An appreciation and love of music is not something you can force on someone. You either have it or you dont. You can be led to it, but to feel it rooted deep in your soul is another matter. Those roots can be covered over, buried deep by the problems of day to day life. If you can find a hook to dig deep and find those roots, youd be amazed at the joyous feelings they can inspire.

I think that this was the basis for a new series showcased on DVD this week with the release of LIVE FROM ABBEY ROAD. The studio made famous by the Beatles back in the sixties (and which they used for an album title) is used to its full effect here.

As the box states "The concept for LIVE FROM ABBEY ROAD is simple...capture fantastic, live, musical performances and place musicians in the worlds most inspiring and creative environment in which to do so". Yes, it may sound simple, but the concept works and the performances are stellar.

The idea that someone could come up with a tune, a melody, harmonization, instrumentals, vocals and more is amazing in itself. To find a group of talented individuals willing to perform live in this studio is to help cultivate an appreciation for all that they do.

No musical scene is left untouched here. Country? LeAnn Rimes. Jazz? Wynton Marsalis. Pop? John Mayer. Progressive rock? David Gilmour. Metal? Iron Maiden. Not just these but a whole slew of other bands and performers as well.

One of the nice things about this series is that it not only takes the performers and highlights them performing familiar or non-familiar tunes, it gives them a chance to talk about the creative process as well. To hear someone like David Gilmour of Pink Floyd fame discuss how he saved ideas for up to ten years and then sorted through them to find the ones that were worth turning into songs gives new depth to those tunes, here in particular "On An Island".

All of the artists featured here give glimpses into the way they put together ideas and songs. And then they offer up a tune performed live in the studio. The sound is magnificent as it well should be considering the location. And the performances have a more intimate feel to them than they would on a massive stage.

The DVD is a two disc set. On disc one are featured John Mayer, Corinne Bailey Rae, Dr. John, Craig David, Damien Rice, LeAnn Rimes, Josh Groban,. Natasha Bedingfield, Wynton Marsalis, Nerina Pallot, Jamiroquai, Ray LaMontagne, Gipsy Kings and Norah Jones. Disc two has David Gilmour, The Good The Bad & The Queen, The Kooks, Gnarls Barkley, The Goo Goo Dolls, Iron Maiden, Kasabian, Primal Scream, The Zutons, Dave Matthews and Amos Lee.

For those with no interest in music you might change your mind after listening. For those with a passing interest in music you might find something here to spur you on to listen even more and search out these artists. And for music fanatics like me, youll want to make sure that the stereo system is hooked into the DVD player to get the best sound imaginable.

This DVD is not something that the true music fan will want to simply rent. This is one to add to the collection. BCI has released a great disc for fans that is not to be missed.

These performances on this Bluray disc are the best of series one, which feature a very diverse group of artist performing songs that stretch across musical genres. You cannot go wrong listening to today best and brightest being recorded and filmed in one of musics most hallowed and revered venues. The artist performances are first rate, the video is excellent, images were clean, relatively sharp, free of noise, and very naturally presented. Colors were nicely rendered with a rich tonal balance, nicely saturated, and completely free of chroma noise or bleed.Naturally when you view concert video, its all about the sound and boy is it good. We are graced with two flavors of audio, a 5.1 Dts MA lossless mix, and a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD mix as well. From a musical standpoint this is purely a 4.0 mix, with the center channel utilized only for commentary between tracks, or just before a performance. If you get a chance, listen to the recording sans the video.
For those of you who are true music fans this disc is a must have.

I LOVED this when I first got it. I have arthritis in my hands, so this was a godsend. However, it is slow and noisy. It slowly "cranks" itself closed on the jar and then turns the lid, and then slowly cranks itself open. Id like it better if one could manually adjust it to the size of the lid before turning it on. Sometimes the door for the battery case would pop open and it would stop. Then it suddenly broke. Big disappointment. Now Im going with an under-cabinet jar opener until this one has been improved.

This item works well on jars that are already open. Im not sure about factory sealed jars, but we all know that jars have a habit of being hard to open from the fridge, and it does well on those. Good for people with less grip in their hands.

I purchased this product in January 2008. By December (with limited use), it broke while opening an ordinary canning jar. The plastic is too thin. I called customer service. The warrantee is for 6 months. Good marketing, but bad choice for the consumer.

As a lifetime member of The Church of Appliantology, I naturally was leaning toward the powerful and intimidating countertop Black & Decker model, but due to counter space limitations we agreed to try this little battery unit first. I was seriously skeptical, but after a few test runs I was sold. For what it does for the price, five stars.

This vid was all I had time to shoot, and only on one jar. You can see it is a little slow, but relentless. The battery cover is indeed odd, but once youve done it its no big deal- the batteries slide in slightly angled instead of parallel, maybe thats what confused folks. I doubt this opener will see daily use, so it would be difficult to gather any long-term reliability or battery life info, but after a short period with this device I am tempted to pick one up specifically for that purpose. Plus, it works well, is fun to watch, and I am discovering as I age it seems that they are indeed putting on the lids a lot tighter!
